Notes
Mr. Heinsberg (1200) and Valkenburg (1217). Participates in the battle of the Ane, 28 07 1227, and was wounded there.
Rudolf, lord of Coevorden, rebelled against the bishop of Utrecht and captured the city of Groningen. Bishop Otto of Lippe called his vassals and allies and rested on an expedition to Coevorden. Rudolf would have had no chance in a conventional battle but he managed to lure the army of the bishop the peat swamps of Ane. The knights of the horses got stuck and DEA armored knights themselves were completely helpless in the mud. The bulk of the knights of the army of the bishop was slain. Among them the bishop himself and his brothers, the bishops of Bremen and Munster. Rudolf was able to keep a few more years but in 1230 was forced to negotiate its surrender. He was promised a safe conduct, but he was captured at the agreed place (the castle of Hardenberg), tortured and murdered.
First marriage to Isalda of Limburg.
