Wade Hampton served in the American Revolutionary War. NSSAR shows: SERV: Col SC, DESC: Walker, George Pinckney, ANC #077628, NM #00253

He became a lieutenant and paymaster in the First Regiment during 1776 and was a captain during 1777. In 1778, he was a colonel in the militia commanding a brigde under Gen Sumter. He remained in service and in 1813 was a major general.
