When the Indians appeared a t the Hamilton house, Preston (her brother) saw a friendly chief in the party and went outside to greet him. His father followed him into the yard... "Old Mr. Hampton gave the Chief a cordial welcome and handclasp, but almost immediately Preston was shot down by a Tory, and the hand Anthony had held sent a tomahawk through his skull."
