Killed by the Tories - "Hampton Massacre" near Greer, Spartanburg, SC

The morning of 30 June 1776 when the Cherokees and Tories arrived at the Hampton house, Elizabeth ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎(Hampton)‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ Harrison was visiting her parents while her husband was away recruiting militia... When the Indian s appe ared at the Hamilton house, Preston ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎(her brother)‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ saw a friendly chief in the party and went outside to greet him. His father followed him into the yard... "Old Mr. Hampton gave the Chief a cordial welcome and handclasp, but almost immediately Preston was shot down by a Tory, and the hand Anthony had held sent a tomahawk through his skull." Mrs. Hampton appeared and was killed in like manner... Anthony, Elizabeth, Preston, and the Harrison ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎(Elizabeth's infant)‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ baby were killed...
