Hello, I saw your post on rootsweb world connect and am hoping you can help me with research.
My great grandfather was General Marion Addison and I'm looking for information on him.
After his first wife, Martha passed away, he married Ellen Tennon and they had two children, one of them my grandfather. G.M. shows on a 1900 Arkansas census with wife Ellen and daughter Etta, my Great Aunt.
I have found a marriage record in Polk County where he married a Lulu Lemmons in 1897. According to family story, Lulu left him and then he married Ellen.
Also wondering if you have any pictures of him. I have one and it is said it is him with his wife and two children. The question is is it Martha and 2 of their children? Or Ellen? Thank you, Kathy Allen Sheesley

I have a 37 page file that Debbie Jenkins in Georgia sent me. Turns out that she and I are 'cousins'
I'll start with General Marion Addison. He died in Rooky, Polk County Arkansas August 15, 1904 and is buried at Rooky Cemetery with Martha. I believe the date of her death is July 20, 1897.
A 'Mena Evening Star' newspaper obit says G.M. died in his home with 'neuraliga of the heart' and leaving a wife and two children.
Theres another obit listed in the Mena Star mentioning his wife, Ellen Tennon. This particular one gives tribute to him as a Master Mason. No other information about him as a Mason is available: the lodge he was a member of disbanded, and the lodge holding all information burned.
An 1880 Dayton, Sebastian Co, Arkansas census list him with wife Martha and the following children: Missouri, Ida, Marion (reads like Warrin but is Marion), Sallie, Kit, Timmy ( a daughter) born in Texas, Annie born in Texas, and Ellen born in Arkansas. All others born in Georgia.
A few of his children that show on other census reports are not listed on this one: either on their own married or died.
I have a letter written to my cousin, dated August 26, 1984 from a lady named Nettie (Tennon side), a cousin of my grandfathers. In it, she mentions the fact that G.M. was married to a young girl before he married Ellen. And this girl left him.
The letter also says that G.M.s youngest daughter (Ellen) was a widow, and her children, Maude and Custer, lived with him and Ellen for awhile.
I found two marriage records, Polk County. One is G.M. Addison marrying a Lulu Lemmons November 21, 1897. Theres a note attached to the original document that reads: "Nov the 16th, 1897, Mr. Davis, please grant license to Mr. Addison to marry my daughter, Lulu Lemmons, age 15 years ( much oblized or and ??? - can't quite make these 2 words out) Mrs. A.C. Baker."
This verifies Netties letter about a young girl marrying him.
The second marriage record actually gives information on two Addisons. T.C. (Thomas/Thompson Christopher a son to G.M. and Martha)) Addison, age 23, marries a Jo A. (Joanna) Beck age 15, January 24, 1892. I know of at least one son, Warren B. Addison, born in Nov. 7, 1892 in Mena, Polk County, Arkansas. For a long time, we thought this Warren was a half brother to my grandfather, but his SSDI record and the 1880 census showed otherwise. After finding the marriage record, I figured it out. Theres a note attached to this same marriage record reading: "Rooky, Ark, Jan. the 1st. 1892. Mr. Jack Davis, clerk, Polk, Ark. You are at liberty to grant marriage license to U.S. King to marry my daughter, Ellen, 15 years old. Respectfully yours, G.M. Addison."
Ellen Tennon/Tinnon married G.M. sometime after Lulu Lemmons left him, 1898. They had two children, Etta Addison born 5-10-1900 and died 1-21-1983. Etta shows on a 1900 Polk County Arkansas census with parents, G.M. and Ellen. She married William Harjo, date not known at this time. She's buried in Harjo Cemetery in Wetumka, Hughes County, Oklahoma.
G.M. and Ellen had Marion, my grandfather, born in Rooky, Arkansas 7-13-1902, died 1-3-1983. He married Wessie Lee Hayes and they had five children. He's buried in Wetumka Cemetery, Wetumka, Hughes County, Oklahoma.
After G.M. passed away, Ellen married a W.L. Pack. Ellen was born June 30, 1864 and died 5-11-1931. She's also buried in Wetumka Cemetery.
Think that's about it. If you need more information, let me know. I can send the file and pictures of the tombstones in Rooky Cemetery.
Would love to have anything you have on G.M.'s family or Christopher's.
Thanks, Kathy Allen Sheesley.
