[edit] Last names

Hi Retang, You seem very qualify in Indonesian family tree, it is great !
But I've got a question: You look to have a kind of structure in your family name (like "Hamengku Buwono VI / Hamengku Buwono VII") and personnal genealogy coding (like "[Gp.Hb.7.13.1] [Hb.6.13.7]" or "6.2.1.2.1."), Could you explain us how to understand this structure ? and maybe wright an small article on it ? --Charles 16:34, 14 August 2015 (EEST)

Hi Charles, it was a royal family structure and it's heritage. Javanese culture took their ancestor lineage from both their mother and father family line. The family name Hamengku Buwono VI for example, was a family patron or lineage. Those who had a patron, use to had a annualy family gathering.

While the genealogy coding, actually it was my design token from it's original coding. The original coding from the Yogyakarta royal family for example was p.VI.1 means the first(1) son/daughter (p) from the Hamengku Buwono VI (VI). When I'm using rodovid, that code must change because there are lots of p(son) from lots of king/sultan/sunan VI. such as Sunan Mangkunegara VI, Pakualam VI, etc. So I have to replace the code p with each king's code. Hb for Hamengku Buwono, Pb for Pakubuwono, Mn for Mangkunegara, Pa for Pakualam. These are the 4 kingdoms in Central Java or the Mataram Islam kingdoms after Panembahan Senopati (the first mataram Kingdom).

Now the code Gp and Ga. "G" means wife in english. while "p" means queen or equal to queen, and "a" means formal concubine or mistress. Only the son birth from Gp can become the next king. Usually the first son. Gp is Garwa Padmi, and GA is Garwa Ampeyan. The young son from GP will had a title Gusti Raden Mas (GRM) while the young son from GA will had a title Bendoro Raden Mas (BRM). Both title were given to the king's son, but they had a different royal status. When they become adult, the could use the title Gusti Pangeran and just Pangeran (= prince). While the person who had the title Gusti Bendoro Pangeran Haryo (GBPH), could had a chance to become the next king. Below them was Bendoro Pangeran Haryo (BPH).

Then the numbers. Example [Hb.6.13.7] means the 7th son/daughter or descent from the 13th son/daughter/descent from Hamengku Buwono VI. So this person [Hb.6.13.7] was the grand son/daughter from Hamengku Buwono VI. the number following after that means the grandgrand son, grandgrandgrand son etc. And the number 1,2... means descent number 1,2.... from....

I hope you'll understand my little explanation about this.

Joko Sangkrib family tree?
Joko Sangkrib family tree?

Hi Retang,

I am currently working on my girlfriend's family tree. She is Javanese and of noble descent (a lot of Raden in her ancestry). I have obtained an old family tree from her, which does not 100% fit your family tree of Joko Sangkrib (Arung Binang I.). I would like to know what your sources are because I tend to believe your family tree more than the old one found in her house. You can find the family tree that I've got here, so you can check it, too. Thanks in advance!

Boleh jawab dalam bahasa Indonesia juga. :-)

[edit] Bolang Family Tree

Good evening,

I am interested in the Bolang family tree. In particular Hamid Bolang.

Please reply to jmaplest@bigpond.net.au to discuss my interest.

Yours sincerely.

Julie

Dear Julie,

My data from Bolang family are very limited. I haven't found the origin of Bolang ancestry. Sorry for that. My data limited to Bolang families that lives in Ranomuut, South Sulawesi.

Hello Mr Menot,

I'm just checking that the link below is the area you are referring to in an effort to find out more about my father's history, I have never met him, I would like to look for any relatives I can. It seems there is only a Ranomuut in North Sulawesi.
