NOTES FOR BEGINNERS:
  • Single or empty records are not allowed here. Please delete such a record by pressing the delete tab or mark it for deletion using the template: {{delete|reason}}
  • Clan field - it's the surname in singular if it doesn't change by gender (English or Western European languages, for instance). If the name is in a language, such as Russian or Ukranian, where it depends on sex, put it in the plural (for ex., Petrov/Petrova - Petrovs)
  • Place field must have each administrative unit separated by commas (for ex., London, England, UK)
  • Upload photos via special pages. They could be used in different places
  • If you record was changed check whether it was correction or vandalism. If vandalism - immediately tell us about it.

[edit] Merging

Hi CharlesF, Please take caution when using the template {{merge}}. Please put the tag on the NEW record (the one with the high number), and make the number you put in the template the OLDER record. Thanks, Wikiacc () 20:46, 23 July 2010 (EEST)

Ok, By this way I would just help the work of administrators. The older is only in one language, the newest is in 3 languages.
So say to the German and French to create and correct this record. Sorry for this mistack. --CharlesF 05:11, 24 July 2010 (EEST)
By the same problem, you have removed "merge" information on 30 records, just now they havn't been merge (and now without any "merge" information) if you are intresting to put "merge"" information look:
If you absolutly whant to do the Oldest/newest law, creat the record in Indoniean and the "merge" information. Regards--CharlesF 07:56, 3 August 2010 (EEST)

[edit] Thank you!

I try to do what I can. There's a lot of inconsistencies that I attempt to remedy. and name usage and transliterating the TONS of Ukrainian and Russian records that got imported without translation. I also have kind of an obsession with making sure locations are listed as they would have been known at the time, rather than how they are known now. Glad to know someone noticed! EvansKnight 13:33, 7 August 2015 (EEST)

You're wellcome ;-) please continue like that :-) you make the data base better and better every day
Did you notice that we try to improve some thinks on RD.en ?
Some French Admin (as me) try to clean up all "red links" on Rodovid.en but we have to modify a huge quantity of recods, like,
  • Trying to standardize all place name like "Shreveport (Louisiana)" (other info will be put in details (like: Christus Schumpert Hospital)) in every recods,
  • Add Liniage pages,
  • Add mariage pages,
  • etc ...
As you say the (global) data base is filled up with many inconsistencies (and you are very gentle to say that) and Mitomania (my point of view), so I'm traking the "troll" who do that and make false recorde in Rodovid and add good templates (Link-type:Make-believe & Needsources most of the time) and than after September, we will be able to make the différance with a "good proved link" and Mitomania (Inconsisences) in the database, when the new softwear will be finish. I didn't see you on Rodovid Engine so if you need information, do not hesitate to contact me B.R. --Charles 15:34, 7 August 2015 (EEST)

[edit] Javanese royal family

Hi Charles, it was a royal family structure and it's heritage. Javanese culture took their ancestor lineage from both their mother and father family line. The family name Hamengku Buwono VI for example, was a family patron or lineage. Those who had a patron, use to had a annualy family gathering.

While the genealogy coding, actually it was my design token from it's original coding. The original coding from the Yogyakarta royal family for example was p.VI.1 means the first(1) son/daughter (p) from the Hamengku Buwono VI (VI). When I'm using rodovid, that code must change because there are lots of p(son) from lots of king/sultan/sunan VI. such as Sunan Mangkunegara VI, Pakualam VI, etc. So I have to replace the code p with each king's code. Hb for Hamengku Buwono, Pb for Pakubuwono, Mn for Mangkunegara, Pa for Pakualam. These are the 4 kingdoms in Central Java or the Mataram Islam kingdoms after Panembahan Senopati (the first mataram Kingdom).

Now the code Gp and Ga. "G" means wife in english. while "p" means queen or equal to queen, and "a" means formal concubine or mistress. Only the son birth from Gp can become the next king. Usually the first son. Gp is Garwa Padmi, and GA is Garwa Ampeyan. The young son from GP will had a title Gusti Raden Mas (GRM) while the young son from GA will had a title Bendoro Raden Mas (BRM). Both title were given to the king's son, but they had a different royal status. When they become adult, the could use the title Gusti Pangeran and just Pangeran (= prince). While the person who had the title Gusti Bendoro Pangeran Haryo (GBPH), could had a chance to become the next king. Below them was Bendoro Pangeran Haryo (BPH).

Then the numbers. Example [Hb.6.13.7] means the 7th son/daughter or descent from the 13th son/daughter/descent from Hamengku Buwono VI. So this person [Hb.6.13.7] was the grand son/daughter from Hamengku Buwono VI. the number following after that means the grandgrand son, grandgrandgrand son etc. And the number 1,2... means descent number 1,2.... from....

I hope you'll understand my little explanation about this.

tanks for the explanation, :-) --Charles 22:21, 7 September 2015 (EEST)

[edit] Location Format

If I can ask, why have you been changing the location format on the English tree? City (State) doesn't seem like it's descriptive enough, and also that format isn't standard in any kind of record keeping with which I am familiar. Is there a rationale behind this? City, County, State/Province, Country is/has been the standard for any genealogy records I've been using for the past 20 years, so I just wanted to know what the rationale behind this. [edit] Tes demandes d’effacement dans RD.EN

Salut Charly!

Voir: http://en.rodovid.org/wk?title=Special:Wantedpages&limit=1000&offset=0 --Christophe Tesson - talk. 14:34, 14 June 2016 (EEST)
