Il fut le fils aîné de Bejan de Mingrélie (Tchikovani).
1728, il accompagna son père, mortellement poignardé dès son entrée dans le chateau de Geluti, mais il réussit à s'échapper et il succéda à son père comme prince de la principauté de Mingrélie.
Il entretint des relations houleuses avec Alexandre V d’Iméréthie et il entretint de bonnes relations avec son successeur Salomon Ier d’Iméréthie.
