The obit. for Daniel can be found in The Globe, 4 March 1920, page 9. Daniel passed away on 3 March 1920 in Toronto. His obit indicates that he was 54 years of age at death and that he was born in Glencoe, Ontario. It also goes into quite a bit of detail regarding his education. There is also a photo of Daniel, but it is on another part of the page where the obituary is found. Both obits give a lot of bio. information about Daniel, but are inconsistent to an extent. For example, one indicates that he was the pastor of St. John's Presbyterian in Brockville for 17 years before he took over the ministry at Rosedale Presbyterian in Toronto in 1908; the other says that he was at St. John's for 12 years. Also, one obit says that he was still the pastor of Rosedale at the time of his death; the other identifies as the "former" paster of Rosedale. The latter also says that, from 1913 until his death, Daniel was the welfare administrator for the Imperial Oil Company. It also says that he was a noted social worker. Source: Mark Thorburn

History of Rosedale Presbyterian Church

Early in 1907 a group of people, newly settled in the Rosedale area of Toronto, inquired into the feasibility of beginning a Presbyterian church for approximately 100 families that resided there. A motion was put forth and the process began.

Rosedale Presbyterian Church held its first public worship in its new building January 24, 1909 with Rev. Daniel Strachan conducting the service. Initally there were approximately 50 communicants and an average Sunday School class of 31 children. Source: http://www.rpcc.ca/about.html
