This is a composite hero a combination of two Heroes both named Meleager. This is the elder Meleager who with his wife Kleopatra (daughter of Idas and Marpessa) had a daughter, Polydora, who became the bride of Protesilaus, who left her bed on their wedding-night to join the expedition to Troy. We know this is the correct Meleager because he was a contemporary of Pyrrhus of Ilion (Paris Alexander of Troy) (an historical personage who is known by Hittite records.)
