The Lebor Gebala Erienn names Semul as son of Esau whose wife is the daughter of Jacob. Their son is Jacob's grandson numbered among the tribes of Israel. In the Shahname, Semul (Sal, Salman) is named as a son in law of Esau. I use the genealogy as set out in the Shahname since it is an older and more original source than the Lebor Gebala Erienn.
