As the son of Diocles, King of the Sicambri, Bassanus was what was considered a Priest-King. He married a Gothic princess and sired a son, Clodomir. Bassanus Magnus is noted for having founded the city of Bassanburg in Gaul (now known as Aix la Chapelle). He died in 250 B.C.
