Category:Mythology
Mythological persons are those who may or may not be real. The problem with mythological persons is that there are so many systems of mythology, how do you choose which ones to include or not include? Sometimes reflecting a mythological person in a combined genealogical and historical context tree helps to provide perspective and identify whether or not a person is a real one or if perhaps they were an amalgamation of several persons from different time periods. Quite often persons are labeled mythological because no evidence of them can be found in the time or place in which the stories place them. This is because names change depending on where you live. This is true of the modern age as well. For example Louis and Ludwig may be the same person depending on whether you were speaking French or German.
Only careful a careful comparative study of several mythologies in the same region or among diverse populations of the same race, combined with forensic analysis using tools such as linguistics, geography, and existing and emerging archaeological artifacts can reveal the truth about mythological persons. When a mythological person is identified and given historical context they should no longer be classified as a mythological person.
