Patricia's was the first of the 20th century royal wedding spectacles--before her 1919 wedding in Westminster Abbey, such events had been relatively quiet and private.
Patricia relinquished the title of Princess of Great Britain and Ireland on her marriage.
An accomplished painter, Lady Patricia left more than 600 paintings. She had had three one-woman shows during her career.
