Tatiana was a biologist. She graduated the Leningrad State University in 1941 and worked as an epidemiologist in a local hospital. During 1942-1944 she was evacuated from Leningrad to Kemerovo Oblast in Siberia. Vladimir I. Vernadsky helped her to get a job at the Main Botanical Gardens of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow (see USSR Academy of Sciences archive records: АРАН. Ф. 518. Оп. 4 Д. 54.
