Notes
He was a Spanish Netherlands soldier in the service of Emperor Charles V and King Philip II of Spain. He had serious doubts whether he would join William the Silent's rebels.
Bournonville was Spanish governor of the cities of Leuven (Duchy of Brabant) and Atrecht (County of Artois) as well as of all of Artois. His noble titles were Count of Hennin-Liétard (initially lord), lord of Bournonville and of Ranchicourt, baron of Capres, of Barlin and of Houllefort, all located in Artois.
