Notes

Two birth places ?

Moses may come from anglicization of "Mogue". Same root and sometimes used in place of "Aidan"

both Mogue and Moses are not uncommon in the Wexford area. Aodhan was a pet form of Aodh (pronounced "Ay"; now usually pseudo-translated as Hugh) and Aodhan was given an anglicized form as Aidan, the name of the patron saint of Ferns diocese. Maodhog was another pet form of Aodh. As explained by Woulfe, the "M" represents "mo", meaning "my", with "og", meaning "young", at the end, so Mo Aodh Og (My young Aodh) was Maodhog, which came down to us as Mogue. Then, to give Mogue some sort of phonetic latinized and/or anglicized equivalent, Moses was brought into the equation. I'd say Mogue/Moses was the most common form of the name in Wexford till the latter half of the nineteenth century, Aidan being less common. The fact that Aidan and Moses were used interchangeably in the family you were researching is very interesting. I wasn't sure before whether that happened.
