Some sources on the internet as well as the expanded description available on Fulk II d'Anjou in the French Wikipedia claim Foulques was married twice: 1) to Gerberga of unknown origin, mother of his children, and 2) to the widow of Alain de Bretagne, daughter of Theobald and Richilde. These sources sometimes give the unnamed widow of Alain the same name as her mother rather than allow her to remain nameless which has led to a great deal of confusion.

In Strantz (Geschichte des Deutschen Adels) I found a reference to the mother of Drogo and Hamo (the sons of Alain d'Bretaigne) as Gerberga the daughter of Rochilde who is often attributed as their mother by mistake.

This is still a mystery however since since the birthdate of Gerberga the first wife of Fulk II would make her quite old by the time she bore him children (having first been married to Alain.) I will continue to research this further. In the meantime though I do believe that the second Gerberga daughter of Rochilde de Borge is the correct mother of Drogo and Hamo and is the name of the second wife of Fulk II. (Feel free to correct this if you have evidence to the contrary).

"Alain d'Bretaigne", really funny! He is the brother of John d'Lennon and Mao d'Zetoung ? --Christophe Tesson - talk. 12:51, 13 February 2016 (EET)
Tesson, I'm sorry... I don't understand your last comment... Is there something constructive that you are trying to add to the discussion? Almoustine 17:14, 13 February 2016 (EET)

[edit] We're not in a blog

We're not in a blog, so, because This text is written in the first person singular, I cut and paste here.

The mother of Roscille de Blois (wife of Allan II) is named Roscille & his father naimed Theobald

In Strantz (Geschichte des Deutschen Adels) I found(Who???) a reference to the mother of Drogo and Hamo (the sons of Alain d'Bretaignemispelled) as Gerberga the daughter of Rochilde who is often attributedRef needed ! as their mother by mistake.

French Wikipeadia said: Drogo (...) his presence in the genealogies probably results from confusion with Drogo of Brittany, son of Roscille of Blois and Alain Barbetorte (de Bretagne) and step-son of Fulk II when the latter marries widow of Blois Roscille Alain Barbetorte.

This is still a mysteryIndeed! however since since the birthdate of Gerberga the first wife of Fulk II would make her quite old by the time she bore him children (having first been married to Alain.) French Wiki said about Foulque II: Widowed, remarried in 954 Coots with Roscille Blois, widow of Alain II Barbetorte, Duke of Brittany and Count of Nantes, which was widowed sister of Thibaut I the Cheat, Count of Blois

French Wikipeadia:

  • One hypothesis considers her a daughter Ratburn I, viscount of Vienne, and Gerberge
  • Another hypothesis gives as the daughter of Geoffrey, Viscount of Orleans and Ada
As you have so carefully pointed out to me many times.... Wikipedia is not a source (French or otherwise) So I would ask for you to take your research to the next level please if you want me to do the same. Otherwise, be a professional and just mark the record as "need more sources" and change the lineage indicator to hypothesis and move on without mocking, deleting, or disconnecting and leave the research validation to someone who cares enough to actually check sources and who understands what "first person singular" really means, and how it differs from research statements. You and Charles are starting to look a bit ignorant when you tag an historical person as "make believe" and "fake" when there actually exists a source cited on the page and/or the person tagged is well known to history. And about sources.... PLEASE. Don't delete sources and then claim that there aren't any. (You and Charles do it all the time and it is simply malicious... so is disconnecting a person in order to break a line and erase people from history and marking them as fake whenever you, personally, have an objection. You accuse me of "point of view pushing" but what are you doing? I have to question your professionalism and motives when you do things like this. This negative derisive scornful attitude of yours, and unwillingness to openly collaborate with others is starting to outweigh the good that you do here. And that, I think, is the saddest thing. I would much rather work with you than in spite of you... Together we could really do some very good work, if you were only willing. Almoustine 17:14, 13 February 2016 (EET)
