Y-ДНК гаплогруппа О3 является основной, с точки зрения происхождения большинства населения Китая. Она встречается всюду по Восточной и Юго-восточной Азии. Также, в более низких частотах гаплогруппа О3 встречается в Центральной и Северной Азии, и, всюду по южному Tихому океану. Предполагается, что эта гаплогруппа распространилась через южный Tихий океан, в той же самой волне, как и гаплогруппа O1.
