Some scholars date this king to approximately 1200 BCE (Archaeologically, the black and red ware culture of the 12th century BCE), However this is problematic in that certain aspects of his narrative seem to predate the Iron age and place the narrative squarely in the Bronze age (3300-1200 BC)
