This Albanian prince was part of the Roman/Baiovarii forces stationed under General Synges in the region of Cleves known as Schwanenburg (Syngeborg) (a Roman fortress established in 54 BC by Julius Caesar) and may have been the inspiration for the ballad of Loehengrin as composed by Wolfram von Eschenbach (c. 1170 – c. 1220)
It is believed that the province of Juliers derives its name from either Julius Caesar who conquered here in 53 BCE or from the Dynasty which stemmed from the nephews of Tiberius Julius Synges who commanded Roman forces there in 230 CE.
Not to be confused with his descendant Gradlon ? (of Llandyfennics, Leodogrance, Ososimus)
- ↑ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohengrin - A highly mythologized text has emerged as a result of mythos engineering on the part of dark age bards and middle age chroniclers who have blended the stories of at least 4 persons to create the ballad of Lohengrin. Nevertheless some truth remains.
