Notes
Died on a ship ("Usarmo"? Osarmo? Both spellings occur in documents.) coming back from Germany. He changed his will on his last journey. He appointed his brother Conrad August Robert as executor, who signed a power of attorney in favour of Otto Wesch to execute the will. Adolf Viedge of Strasbourg, who had been a beneficiary, was cut out of the will. Adolf wrote to the executor, Otto Wesch, who expressed regret that Adolf had been cut out of the will, but said that his task as executor was to execute the will, not to change it. Any money that Otto Wesch decided to pay Adolf would come from his own pocket and "of his own free will". Many people contested the will on grounds of Uncle Henry's insanity, but many doctors and lawyers are on record saying Uncle Henry was lucid and of sound mind when he made the will. Correspondence also exists between Uncle Henry and a Walter Wesch. Other beneficiaries of the original will (which was later revoked) include: Paul Wesch (from Umga Flats, Transkei). Alwin Wesch from Audorf, Rendsburg, Germany Adolf Wesch from Strasbourg, Alsace, Germany Otto Wesch; John Samuel Charls.
