from the "Davidson Genealogy", by Elizabeth Davidson Harbaugh, it is stated that the Jameson family was of Celtic origin, and they migrated from Scotland to Ireland in 1616. from the "Ferguson Family Genealogical History of Wayne County, West Virginia (early Cabell and Kanawha, Virginia)", by Evelyn Booth Massie, published in 1985, Library of Congress Catalog Card No. 85-61178, James and wife Janet migrated to North America with their seven children, and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
