Stepan Alekseevich Valrond took part in the Russian-Swedish war of 1788-1790 - he was put on trial after the Battle of Hogland, in 1797 he was reinstated and returned to service, became a major general of the fleet; was married to the sister of Admiral A. I. von Cruz and had sons: Peter (d. 1825), Alexander (d. 1848), Paul (1803-1863) and Rostislav (d. 1873) - Peter, Alexander and Rostislav in different time became holders of the Order of St. George 4th century. - "for blameless length of service, in the officer ranks"; Paul had the rank of collegiate assessor, and his son became a lieutenant general.
