Notes
The name Faustinus appears among the family of Vortigern (a contemporary), while Peregrinus and Sanctus both indicate to probable Christian connection. Aurelius Ursicinus himself was undoubtedly connected to the family of Brythonic Aurelii (Brittany) (Aurelius Ambrosius, Aurelius Satyrinus, and probably St Ambrose).
Among the other names is the appearance of the name Peregrinus (a falcon) which in Welsh may appear translated as Myrddin. While this connection is a bit of a stretch it may be room for discussion on whether the later authors of the middle age tales of Arthur confused the name Peregrinus/Myrddin with the title Mihran which is a Persian/Levantine military title. Among the historical persons of the period is a descendant of the Aurelii who married into the family of Nennius who bore the Roman name Aurelius Elistus Mihranus (Emrys Myrddin).
Among the many theories regarding the original owners of this hoard, there are speculations that the contents of the hoard originally belonged to a military family that accompanied Count Theodosius to Britain in 368–369, and which may have left with Constantine III in 407.
