Notes

Most of the earliest settlers in the Pea Ridge lived along the Old Indian Trail that ran from Brooklyn to Montezuma(now called River Falls). Among the earliest of these settlers was Jeremiah Dixon, Reubin Diamond, Seth Dixon and others. Jeremiah Dixon, his son Seth, and his son-in-law, Reubin Diamond, moved their families from Monroe County to Pea Ridge in 1823 and settled on the west side of Copeland Creek probably about two miles north of the Conecuh River. They farmed, raised livestock, and later built one of the first sawmills in the area.
