Il fut le second fils de Bagrat Ier d'Iméréthie.
1389, il succéda à son frère Alexandre.
1389, il entreprit une campagne militaire contre l'eristavi Vameq Ier de Mingrélie ou Vameq Ier Dadiani en espérant qu'une victoire contre le plus puissant des féodaux de Géorgie occidentale entraînerait les autres féodaux à se soumettre, mais il fut tué dans une bataille par l'eristavi Vameq Ier.
