Biroš Families from Eastern Europe, including Czechoslovakia, Austria, Austria-Hungary, Hungary.
The š is pronounced like the "sh" in the word "shoe", so the name was sometimes mispelled in English upon the arrival to the United States of America as one of the following variations: Biros, Birosh, Beros, Berosh, & Berish. In all cases, the š appears to have been dropped possibly due to English typewriters not containing the symbol.
