Rodovid is a free family tree wiki, a site that anyone can access, edit and add to. It is powered by MediaWiki Software (the same used by Wikipedia), with customizations to ease work with genealogical data. There are currently ? people and  ? families in the Rodovid database, with ? and ? added in the English version.

Rodovid also runs a special database, Rodovid Engine, for tests. Registration is not required there.

Features

Easy to use

To add a person just click Add Person on the sidebar and fill in the fields (see Help:Genealogical records, description for more information on the fields). To add relatives and spouses just type in their name and search for them: if we already have a record of them, they will be shown and you need only click on them; if we don't, an option is given to create such an entry.

Automatic Tree Generation

A graphical tree is automatically generated on each person's page, showing ancestry to two generations and descendants to two generations (grandparents to grandchildren), with their siblings and spouses as well. You can also view a full version of the tree (showing all generations), and additionally create a version optimised for printing. This full tree can also be viewed for relatives by clicking on the sex mark (♂, ♀) next to any person's name.

GEDCOM Import

Rodovid allows you to import entries into the database using GEDCOM files, the internationally recognised genealogy standard. Nearly all family tree programs will allow you to save a tree in this format. This feature is currently being tested on Rodovid engine

Interlinked Databases

Most genealogical data consists solely of names, dates and locations; if you add a person in one language, they will appear in all the other languages (with the context words 'name', 'birth' etc. translated). For example, this entry, which was created in Ukranian, is also viewable in English as this entry.
