| - | <ext>In the genealogy of David, there are approximately 5 missing generations between David and Amindadav al Hur (according to the Bible). This has resulted in a quandary which has puzzled genealogists for more than two thousand years and led to countless wars and revolutions in the region which continue to this day. What became of the missing generations is an extraordinary mystery. The Hebrew (aka record of Judah) as preserved in the Bible was written by the descendants of Judah who under David were active in territorial disputes with the nearby Philistines, and as such will be naturally skewed to their version of the historical events. It is interesting to note that even the Bible includes ancestors of David who are questionable at least and "part of the enemy camp" at best. Among his ancestors are Hurrites, Moabites, Philistines, and Egyptians...leading one to question whether it is by virtue of his familial connections, and not merely his military exploits, that Israel and Judah were united under his crown. Were David's ancestors deliberately, and carefully, excluded in order to put a more Hebrew face on the king...providing just enough information to establish legitimate claim to the area without revealing the depth of his familial and political connections to the traditional enemies of the "Jews"? | + | |

But were likely at this time to have been written on parchment or vellum scrolls and would have not survived the conflagration of these amazing repositories.
