Le Seigneur de Barde, mentioned as one of William Duke of Normandy's followers to the conquest of England. — (A large old History of Normandy in the Advocates' Library, and Hollingsheds Chronicle^ who calls him the Seigneur de Beart (Beathe/Baibd) — Library at Glasgow. This name is clearly Gaelic^{Nether : clearly Norman} from the South of France^{Oops : Gaelics were installed in nort-west France}.

It is interesting^Why? that this surname appears in the lineages of both King Macbeth (Macbeatha MacFindlach) and his Lady Grouch (Gruocj nicBoedhe MacCinaeda) which lends weight^Why? to the arguement that Robert de Burgh was the grandson of Doda MacMalcolm the Princess of Scotland through the 2nd marriage of his mother Herleve d'Falaise.
