Aud/Aun/Aunundr/ is buried in the Old Uppsala Churchyard. Dating for this king is determined by the carbon dating of remains found in the mound. Putting his burial at around 449 CE. The length of his life is mentioned in the annals as unusually long lived. The kings in this dynasty previously located in Sigtuna but who relocated to Upsala, were priest kings related to the eastern Hasdingi/Langbardi cult. The king was rendered divine upon ascension and was expected to offer himself as a ritual sacrifice if necessary to ensure continued welfare of their people.

This line of kings typically reached maturity, married, and fathered children at age 14, age 18 was the average age of ascension for these kings, and an average lifespan of 26. Aud is famous for having lived a very long life. The story is that he offered his 9 sons as sacrifices to the gods in exchange for 10 years of life for each son. His 10th son escaped the fate and lived to carry on the line. If Aud was granted 10 years for each of his 90 sons. That would make him between the age of 104 at the age of death. The bones in the grave correspond to a man estimated between the age of 80 and 100. This would place Aud's birth date at a much earlier date than the rest of the members of his dynasty which will result in a skewed pedigree chart but one that is never the less accurate given the nature of the dating techniques used.
